The GECA ecolabel and standards address multiple environmental attributes, product life cycle and supply chain ethics and management. Considerations include:

Environmental Attributes:

  • Ingredients and health: Toxicity, air quality, VOCs, carcinogens, etc.

  • Water: Reducing water consumption, protecting waterways, etc.

  • Materials: Use of sustainable materials and minimising material usage.

  • Emissions and Waste: Product energy use, suitability for reuse or recycling, etc.

Product Life Cycle:

Impact across the entire life cycle of a product or service, from raw material extraction through to use and eventual disposal or breakdown.

Ethics and worker conditions:

The conditions in which certified products are manufactured are reviewed and considered against social impacts that are across all the standards.

GECA utilizes their own rigorous standards, following ISO 14024 principles and ISEAL frameworks for global best practice in ecolabelling, which are then independently assessed by our Assurance Providers.
