Owner, Redhill Cellar & Pantry

Owned and operated by Joe and Dee Caligiuri, the business is a thriving local grocer, coffee shop, post office and meeting place for the community.

Since purchasing the site in 2003, Joe and Dee have set about creating a meeting place for the local community and travelers alike that represents both the values and produce of the area. In produce, you will find a wide selection of local fruit, vegetables, meats, delicacies and wine, beer & cider for which the area is famous.

In values, the Redhill Cellar and Pantry has taken on the local community pride for supporting locals, along with a belief in sustainable practices and care for the environment. With this intent, the business has become inherently sustainable in its nature. In speaking with Joe, he comments on these values that –

“Our business culture is based on a green angle or thinking. Solar panels, compost bins for produce waste, minimising chemical use in store, no plastic bags in produce or registers before it became common ground”.

Introducing eWater

Joe and Dee were first introduced to eWater early in 2018 and took their time to research the product before purchasing.

Ultimately, they made the decision to purchase a Standalone System and haven’t looked back. On their reason for taking the plunge, Joe noted -

‘eWater for us was a continuation of our movement towards a waste free and circular economy business. eWater naturally works with our water waste systems which naturally process wastewater and return it to our gardens. It is also fundamentally safer than conventional chemical cleaning products. This reduces the risks for my staff and the feedback to that regard is that it makes a big difference’.

Using eWater to keep produce fresher for longer

In addition to cleaning and hygiene management, Redhill Cellar and Pantry have found eWater to be highly valuable in maintaining and extending the shelf life of their produce.

Produce manager Wayne, has highlighted that all inbound produce is treated with eWater for cleaning and sanitising with the process keeping produce fresher for longer. The benefit of this is twofold both saving money and reducing waste.

Reducing Risks for staff

With no synthetic or harsh chemicals, eWater provides a safer and healthier alternative for the team. Joe highlights that -

‘eWater is fundamentally safe, effective and sustainable. It is economically neutral for us which considered with its safety and environmentally friendly credentials make it a smart choice for us. We eWater throughout the store’.

The sum of it – My Customers and staff love it.

eWater is a good business decision for a grocer, it is safe, effective and efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective, but most importantly it is loved by both customers and staff. It adds value both operationally and for your brand. The fact that it works with your produce to help reduce spoilage in addition to its cleaning capability makes it a great choice.

‘All businesses should consider it as it makes both ethical and money sense to introduce it. Good feeling in store for staff not having contact with harsh chemicals, and also the benefit of low running costs of e-water’.
