New York to disclose cleaning product ingredients

New York is set to be the first state in the US to require mandatory disclosure of ingredients in cleaning products, and to identify chemicals of concern used in formulations.

This is a major step forward in the push against harmful chemical use in consumer products, and we hope that these requirements will be adopted far more broadly.

"Ingredient disclosure has been a major issue for both state and federal legislators in recent years. So-called ‘right to know’ legislation has been introduced in more than half a dozen states this year, addressing such product categories as household cleaners, cosmetics, toys and electronics."

eWater Systems fully supports this initiative. Harmful chemicals are very widely used in consumer products, and currently chemical companies and manufacturers have little obligation to alert the public to the dangers of their products ingredients.
