What it means to be a B Corp business

At eWater Systems, we are committed to creating a better future through our mission to reduce the world’s chemical footprint. As part of this commitment, we completed the B Impact Assessment in 2016 to become a certified B Corp Business.

We're entering a New Economy. An economy where business is a force for good, not a destructive force. Where businesses who do good, do well. More than ever before consumers and employees are making choices that make the world better. Momentum is building and we're excited to celebrate #bcorpmonth by shining a light on Better Business for a Better World.

About B Corp

B Corp Best in World Honour

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and non-profits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.

B Corps form a community of leaders and drive a global movement of people using business as a force for good. The values and aspirations of the B Corp community are embedded in the B Corp Declaration of Interdependence.

Our B Corp Journey

Since this initial assessment, we have continued to grow our community of pioneering customers, and each is making an impact of their own by reducing their chemical footprint. These pioneers include both large and high profile organisations like Taronga Zoo and Lendlease, food chains like The Burger Project, cafes such as New Normal Cafe and aged care groups such as Regis. All share a common trait of understanding that it makes good business sense to reduce the use of chemicals in their workplace.

Lendlease 25 King Street, Brisbane | The eWater Hygiene System is now part of the largest and tallest engineered timber office building in Australia. Setting new standards in environmental and socially sustainable workplaces, eWater will be used to clean the interior of the building. Congratulations to all involved for an outstanding development.

In 2017 and again in 2018, eWater Systems was awarded ‘Best in World’ honours for our impact on the environment by B Corp. These honours, along with the inspirational stories from our customers provide us with confidence that we are on the right path.
To continue this commitment, we have recently completed our B Corp renewal certification for another three years.

In our journey we have found that a lot of people are now familiar with B Corp, but likewise we also met many who are not. We thought therefore that our renewal provided a good opportunity to share are short overview about what B Corp is and what it takes to become one.

The B Corp Certification Process

Certifying as a B Corporation goes beyond product- or service-level certification. B Corp Certification is the only certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance.

The B Impact Assessment evaluates how your company’s operations and business model impact your workers, community, environment, and customers. From your supply chain and input materials to your charitable giving and employee benefits, B Corp Certification proves your business is meeting the highest standards of verified performance.

The positive impact is supported by transparency and accountability requirements. B Corp Certification doesn’t just prove where your company excels now—it commits you to consider stakeholder impact for the long-term by building it into your company’s legal structure.
